This is a new product we have invented with a purpose to provide affordable docking solution for owners of kayaks, canoes, KaBoats, small inflatable boats and other small and light watercrafts, as well as work float platform. New model made from thicker and heavier 1. Docking platform is provided in a form of heavy-duty outer shell container 8'x4'x8" made of tarpaulin PVC material.
Customer can fill out this container with 4 four panels of Styrofoam or any Build Your Own Floating Boat Dock Process other foam insulations sheets that are sold in many hardware stores, such as Home Depot or Loews. Outer shell has long and narrow opening to insert 8'x4'x2" foam panels one by one, and then securely lock it with Velcro.
Styrofoam sheets NOT included. Each dock comes with 4 D-rings installed at its edges, that can be used to secure watercraft to the dock, secure dock to anchor or stationary object, or to join several docking platforms together to form larger size docks.
For example, 1 dock will provide enough support for 1-person kayak or canoe or up to 9' long inflatable boat or 15' KaBoat. For longer boats and larger kayaks, customers might use 2 docks joined together via D-rings and rope.
You can add as many dock platforms as you need. Docking platform with 4 Styrofoam sheet inside is rigid enough for small watercrafts. Additional plywood layer can be bolted through foam layers to make this dock suitable for heavier Jet Ski. Rollers, caster wheels and even trailer winch can be bolted on top of heavy-duty plywood to make pulling easier.
Original idea of that platform was to provide cheap and disposable docking for one season, so that at the end of Summer customer can remove Styrofoam from dock and dispose it until next season.
However, after we tested this platform for almost 2 years in a salty water, under damaging Florida sun, it is apparent that platform is really heavy-duty contraption, and can withstand at least several years of continues use.
To make Styrofoam block insertion easier, spray it with water or mix of water and shampoo or soap or dishwasher detergent. That will make insertions easier. You can also cut a little bit of Styrofoam block if needed.
Do NOT push Styrofoam sheets inside dock with an excessive force, as that might rip off seams, which will not be covered by warranty. Just received the new and improved Dock envelope! It fits perfectly and looks like a custom dock! I will also try wrapping a gray, cheap PVC tarp around the dock to inhibit growth on the bottom. This floating dock container is a clever idea and a godsend to those who have a medium weight boat but no lift to keep it out of seawater. I used the white foam from HD and liquid soap from the Dollar Store to help ease the sheets into the envelope.
Patience and two sets of hands helps. Used heat knife from Harbor Freight to do this cleanly good for cutting nylon rope too. I am on the west coast of Florida and crud grows very rapidly on items left in the water so I am trying a simple mode to help make life easier for routine cleaning an idea I got from a boat show. Barnacles and other marine growth needs regular replenishment of new water with oxygen and nutrients. I wrapped a tarp on the underside of the floating dock and brought it up each side, folding the corners and taping down.
HF also have some nifty tarp grips so you can fold the tarp to the right size before lashing it in place. This might not work but worth the try?
Seems to be well-made, heavy duty PVC with well anchored D rings. We bought 4 sheets of 4x8' Build Your Own Floating Boat Dock One 2" poly covered styrofoam from Home Depot. It was a struggle to fit the sheets in, particularly the first sheet as the side pockets and bottom don't have flaps and the sheets hung up and the edges curled up.
We used some soap and water, but it didn't help much. Some side flaps on the pocket would of made a big difference. Otherwise it seems like a pretty good product, we'll see how long it lasts in salt water, I'm hoping for seasons. Great size, solid quality and at a really affordable price. Janine J. It has been in salt water ever since, with the exception of about a month when I took it out to clean it and remove barnacles.

I can stand on the float, lift the bow of the dinghy chest height, back up, and it's more than halfway on the float.
Then I just drag it the rest of the way on. Easy to launch also. No more bottom cleaning, no more corrosion. I purchased 2 4x8 shells and filled each of them with 4 Build Your Own Floating Boat Dock Quote 2" x 4" x 8" sheets of Polyurethane, which are very dense and will not hold water. I then used steel cable to hook the two together to make 1 8' x 8' floating dock. I keep my 10' Zodiac on top of it as it is easy to pull it up and push it off of the dock.
