In my opinion, nothing beats a beefy trailer bunk made of Cypress. Cypress trailer bunks give you guaranteed strength and durability that will last the life of the boat. It is readily available in the Southeast, so if you live up north you're going to pay a premium price above what we do in the South. I have a feeling that when Prestige built my trailer, it was right before they went bankrupt. I think they just used what they had left. My trailer had 2 lb axles. The trailer was rated for 10, lbs. It should've had lb axles like my new Load-Rite has. I think the axles were overloaded and that's part of what caused them to fail.
However, UFP did change the design of the torsion spring in which is the year after mine was built. They knew they had a weak design prior to ' Unfortunately I can't offer a whole lot of advice other than when trailer shopping earlier this year my shop recommended the Load Rite Elite over Venture. Second where will the boat go, if in salt then aluminum or galvanized is a must period. If in freshwater I would balance how long I expect to keep it and typical use.

With that said if im a typical boater and go mins to the launch a dozen times a year or so and hauling a relatively moderate load which most of these boats are buying the cheapest quality steel trailer out there.
Just don't see the advantage of spending top dollar on a trailer for normal use in fresh water. But again I caveat this again, im not buying junk and the trailer must properly seat and carry my boat.
