Nice and firm when inflated. Five grown men and a cooler of beer were in this boat at one point and it held up great! This thing is great, I was weary at first as it is so affordable it man it was a blast to take my wife and our dogs out on the lake, it held up really well, definitely can be paddled with one person, though I struggled with it as I had shoulder surgery on my left shoulder a couple years back and the motion was as smooth as the right so I could paddle straight but that was me not the boat.
