I have a triple axle aluminum and am happy with it. It has galvanized cross members and axles so it isn't all aluminum. It bolts together so you can replace parts over time if they fail. That being said I think a welded hot-dipped steel trailer might be the strongest trailer you can get, but will also be heavier. My trailer has never floated on me.
Even though it's aluminum it's over 30' long it's heavy as hell. If I was planning on towing my rig down the Baja Peninsula a lot I'd probably have gone with galvanized steel. My 2 cents. Corrosion wise the main structure weathered better than galvanized, however it corroded at bolt points badly and was even worse with SSteel bolts so in the end it is a toss up to me other than cost witch last time I checked, aluminum was much higher.
