I appreciate all the feedback and responses. I am looking at several brands. I know I will find the one that is right. Originally Posted By: JayKendrick. Vernon Tx. B, I would look for the boat that best suits your needs. I was the owner of a Triton 21XHP and loved the boat. I started looking new boats from Ranger on down, I even took a trip to the Ranger Plant. They now build 3 Brands out of the factory. I take people fish for fun such as my dad and other family and also fish Bass tournements a lot. I know alot of guys on here will have something to say about the Boat I picked.

But after close to six months and close to 30 hours riding and fishing out of five brands including Bass Cat i went with the Stratos Champion Elite. It my not have every bell and whistle but in no way did I find another boat on the market that can handle big water half as well.

Most of the name brand boats today are great and you would be happy with anyone of them. I would test drive as many boats as you can under the same conditions windy windy windy then see for yourself who builds the bout that YOU like best. Good Luck and have fun next to your wife this will be the biggest invest you make and sleep with.

Do basscats float as shallow a's a skeeter? I have heard they do not, and that could be an issue in skinny water.

Dude, you are asking this in a BassCat owners thread. Of course it floats as skinny as a Skeeter or a insert other brand here. Originally Posted By: flippindropshots. They are the best bass boat on the market overall. Anyone that disagrees is intitled to their opinion I'm just telling you mine. Basscat has won the JD Power and Associates customer satisfaction award four years in a row. Now if people didn't like their cats that wouldn't happen. Don't believe me?? Ask ford how quickly word got out about their 6. You never hear about anyone that ownes a crapper diesel saying its the best one on the market.

Bad news travels faster than good. USA made a couple points but I'd have to respectfully disagree with most. Some of the negatives have been updated since 06 like someone else suggested. If u cant reach the tm foot pedal lower your seat biggin'. You can't please everyone and it sounds to me like USA would complain if he was hung with a new rope.

Rod lockers to small but the glove compartment is too big LOL if it were smaller I'm sure that would be number 34 of his rant. Not every boat suites every person but for me overall Basscat is a great boat backed by a great company. Sorry if this sounds a bit offensive but I'm a little offended as a Basscat owner.

You make it sound like we have our blinders on and just buy what we are told. Like we don't have the common sense to compare our boats to another. I can get into specifics as to why i own a cat if need be but I was wanting to state the obvious hoping it was enough. We have an 06 baycat. Handles rough water like a champ. Held a 60 lb cat in the rear livewell no problem. Very thick skin. Easy to move around in. I would love to have our old pantera II back for tournament fishing.

Basscat products are legit. San Antone. Funny you never pointed out all the bad points you state below when you were trying to sell it to me.. Added my 2 cents below on them I also remember you having to sell the boat, not because of the boat, Bass Cat Boat Trailer Wheels or anything about the boat?? I will keep that between us, no worries. BTW - Its been one great boat, Thank you!

I voted NO. Not hiding, I just voted. I was gonna keep my mouth shut but since you made the statement, I will step forward. I know BCB has a loyal group of followers and I am going to get rimmed on this.

I think many of them have become blind to truly evaluating their boat without giving an honest comparison to other boat manufactures. They tend to overuse the great customer service wayyyy too much that I think it over shadows them seeing that at the end of the day, its not the most ideal of a bass boat out there.

True there is no ideal boat. But like many brand owners, they tend to take one major flaw from one brand of boat and beat it up to no end. I have owned all 3 brands of boats Ranger, Skeeter and BCB so my comparision is with brands as I dont have much experience with the other common names like Nitro, Triton and Champion. Although I have fished out of them all including tournaments. I hated having to step that much forward on rough water.

You can see this on BCB website. I personally just dont care for it and dont understand the thought process behind it. It doesnt help me but rather it negatively affects my abilty to focus on fishing in rough water without having to think if I am going to go in the lake.

Closer to the action. Easier pitching in tight places. I am 5"11". No issues. Therefore, you have to look straight down to look at your graph as opposed to looking at it from a more comfortable angle.

Little bigger screen. Still lays flat though. I would rather look down at graph. Easier to pitch. Many of compartments on a BCB are like a big hole. Unlike a Skeeter, when you open the tackle storage lid, your boxes are close to the top, easy to get stuff in and out, without needing to stretch or bend your back doing it.

I removed that plastic warped organizer you had in there. You cant do this on most BCB. Trust me, you cant! Most, rod boxes are on sides of boat? When i retie retrieve another bait, i rather be in center of the boat. Why sit or kneel on the edge of the boat?? Skeeter rod boxes are very wide AND long. Because they are long, its easier to load your rods in and out, because they are wide, your rods are more spread out. To put it another way, you can just about lay inside a skeeter box should hail come Anyway, you cant do that with a BCB rod boxes.

I cant remember which BCB boat it is I think its the eyra but it only set up to hold only 9 rods. Ranger and Skeeter have nice rod boxes that can accomodate more. Plus the rod tubes on Skeeter are wide enough and because rod box is wider you can double up on rods and get up to 15 or 16 rods before it becomes unmanageable. See 7. I screwed up many rod tips sliding my rods in and and out.

Maybe they changed since my Not sure. I can hold more than enough rods for two people. No issues here. Trust me. Skeeter does too. BCB still uses those cup holders made for 12 ounce cans or slim water bottles.

I cant figure out why they are not placed within reach while seating down. Its like they stuck them where ever they found place. How could something so simple like this had been overlooked? I also turned the box around, so the lid will not open when running if you forget to snap the latch.

Those cup holders you talk about are great up to and well past WOT. It wasn't clean and easy to follow. I invested into a couple tie wraps and it looks great. There was no way one could easy get to tighten it. Tommy had to have to some tool to get to it. Can be reached through RH rod locker. Easy stuff. Well that is where they screwed the plate to hold the rod cylinder not sure what its called.

Therefore my rod boxes leaked. BCB had to send a redesign and eventually the plate was mounted with screws on the inside fiberglass wall of the boat. This gave it a lot of play and I just didnt like it. I got rid of the cheap plastic perko latches too. Installed South Co latches. See 7 - I removed the forward rod sleeves supports. Sealed the holes you drilled in the water drain "valley". Again, rod boxes no leak for me.

Also, they were not attached to the inside fiberglass wall like you said. That is not even true. I had to dig it out when I needed to charge the boat. Same old style design. Unlike Skeeter and Ranger, the connector is located outside of the boat so you can get to it much easier without having to dig for it.

Very easily reached. I look at it as one less hole drilled into the fibergalss making it that much stronger? Because when your driving down the water and your rods start to slide backwards, they hit the console and scar it up big time.

Lots of threads on how to remove those rub marks. When I drive down the lake, i use the rod straps. Trust me It just looks cheap to me and less protected from rock chips flying underneath. You can have em. Ask a skeeter guy The glove box on those BCB are so big that stuff gets lost in there. Just trying to retrieve the truck keys require a 2 day expedition.

One with no lid, for wallet, keys. Also a ziplock bag with TP. I just try to be smarter than the glove box. GO to Skeeter web page, and look at the nice storage compartment of a zx next to drivers seat.

Its something one uses almost all the time!!! It didnt have that deep, tough gel goat like my Ranger had. I think its the new eyra I think this is the boat. What were they thinking???? Skeeter uses a 30 qt cooler. Does it work for me? Other BCB's coolers are huge. The drain takes absolutely not any space you need.

What are you talking about? A cooler that has no drain, will stink after a while. Why do I have to open 2 different compartments? For me living on the west side, it was over mile round trip when I needed something.

Skeeter and Ranger has more options here with Fun N Sun. Preventive maint stuff. See what Ranger and Skeeter use. Its a more durable piece of material. It works great. Mine Bass Cat Boat Trailer Steps Up had a miss cut where radio was installed. Because of the stereo install.

Fiberglass finish? Say what? Don't forget this BCB has a life warranty on hull, transom, floor and stringers. Skeeter and Ranger holds 8!!

Have you checked out the Jaguar? Guess not. Ranger has a better looking, and better finish to it. Ranger trailer just looks more road warrior worthy! I also installed the option step and pole on front of trailer.

You said it would hit your garage door? Your motor is higher than the pole silly. Too bad R boats dont have this huh? Many other boats dont come close to looking the price tag they carry. Hope you have something to fish in. These are found in most Skeeter boats. Smart option offered by Skeeter because these are things you need to get too quickly. I dont need to dig them out of a tackle box or leave them lying on the floor like you would on a BCB.

I don't have a TP dispenser either Plus the design of the rod handle holder on passenger side of Skeeter boat is roomier, much nicer because it helps rods lay down as opposed to sticking up in the air since BCB uses a hole to insert your rod. Passenger rods on BCB really dont lay on anything midway up. Rather when strapped down they only touch the back "edge" of the deck. Plus the area given is narrow.

Never had a partner complain about his fishing rods getting damaged. They were not sanded down. Also no nails Maybe you are thinking of the wheel well trim. Its held on by pop rivits. No need to file them. The holes went all the way thru so that partners rod handles would go stick into main rod storage and interfer with my rods.

I had one and liked it. You never installed it??? Guess you liked it on other boats? Boats are solid for sure. My boat went in for minor stuff and nothing major. The boat you had so many disklikes is 5 years old too.

Just like any boat brand, things do improve. Would I purchase another BCB? Is that 06 BCB P4 better now, since you owned it? Yes it is, trust me. Swampcat you have one beautiful PIV for sure.

I saw it before you got it. MY Cougar is doing great for me also. All I have done to it has been electronics upgrades, added a ladder, and new batteries. Everything else works just like the day I got it. Campbell, TX. I cant blame ya. I am still happy with my Cougar Tommy would always get me in and out quick when it was under warranty for small stuff Yep I sold Kenneth the boat. HE drove down all the way from San Antonio for it.

He spent the night and I took him fishing so he could try it out. It was what he wanted. About that time my cat was so fully loaded, no further other options could be added to it, I even included the towable cover. I sold it way below book. The reason why I sold it was because I was having hard times making ends meet.

I was getting real nervous. I am not the only one this has happened too I would bet. I was in sales selling to livestock operations as I was in agriculture business. Cost of groceries was sky rocketing.

Livestock producers were losing money big time so they didnt want to buy anything additional. SO, it was the boat or my family and home. Kenneth helped me out buying it and I helped him by giving him a heck of a deal. You got a heck of a deal on that boat Kenneth and you know it. Do you remember before you left you asked if you could have my full container never opened of engine oil?

Which I didnt let him have. It wasnt enough that I saved you thousands and you wanted the oil too. Anyway, I am glad boat worked out for you.

By the way, for those of you that keep saying that the newer bcb boats have them. Well, I can tell you we dont need to purchase boats to get some of the features I described. You can find them in boats older than 5 years. Boats like Skeeter come ready to fish so you wont have to worry about moddifying things like rod lockers or drink cup holders.

I prepared a comparison of boat brand layouts with pics. I had intention to post here but I decided not too. I decided not to let brand blinded people push me to that level.

And yes, I was brand blind and now I see. Trailer: Custom tandem axle trailer shows minimal signs of use. Boat and trailer tow great over the road. Without knowing the weight, you could cause a lot of danger and damage, such as if you choose the wrong towing vehicle.

Always make sure you know your towing weight before towing so that you can plan accordingly. First off, for those of you wondering, a bass boat is a small type of fishing boat. It is designed specifically for fishing bass and other freshwater fish in river, lakes, and other fresh water sources.

These boats generally have a few select features. These features include raised swivel chairs to provide for an ideal, yet still relaxing cast position, lots of storage space for fishing tackle and other assorted gear, and a live well with recirculating water to store live fish that one has caught. These boats are very popular among avid fishermen and can prove to be quite beneficial. This boat has a length of 21 feet and 5 inches and weighs 2, pounds.

It is one of the larger bass boats. It has a fuel capacity for about 53 gallons. The Jaguar has loads of hide-away scissor-rack storage space for tackle boxes and fishing rods and has a deck width of 6 feet. This boat is set up with speakers, lighted features, 2 ice chests, a racing-quality engine, and much more. It is definitely a high quality boat for those avid freshwater fisherman.

This boat, like the Jaguar, was built for speed and a comfortable, convenient fishing experience. This boat has a length of 20 feet and 10 inches and a weight of about 1, pounds. It has a fuel capacity of about 25 gallons. The Elite has storage room for up to 24 fishing rods, in individual racks to hold each securely.

It also has plenty of tackle storage space along with an infrared night-vision camera to add to safety for late-night and early-morning fishing trips. It also has heated seats for passenger comfort.

This boat has a length of 18 feet and 10 inches and weighs 2, pounds. It is a heavier boat for sure, but it was made specifically to be family friendly.

The fuel capacity of this boat is about 34 gallons. This boat has seating for up to 6 passengers that will accommodate for both comfortable fishing and travel. The Elite also has a deep cockpit which provides for a safe and family-friendly fishing environment. It also has a super safe rod storage system to ensure that all the rods are safely kept and damage free through any travel.

It has all of the essential elements that you would need in your fishing boat without having to worry about all of the crazy extras. It is a great price, great set-up, and sure to satisfy. This boat also has a fuel capacity of about 40 gallons.

This boat has all the basic features you would need with some excellent editions. One of these great features is it has two lift-out molded aft storage boxes that are each big enough to fit seven tackle trays. Another one of these awesome features is it has a bike seat with a pedestal for the ultimate fishing experience. This bass boat is another great option. It has guaranteed long-lasting looks and Bass Cat Boat Trailer 60 is completely backed and warranted by the Tracker company promise!

This boat has some great features to offer too. One of my favorite features of this boat is the 6 pedestal seat base locations. You can set up camp on nearly any location on your boat and have the ultimate fishing set-up. Another feature that I love is the lockable port bow rod box for rods to 7 feet. It is definitely a high quality boat and will live up to its reputation.
