We had an absolute blast! It was a chilly, almost rainy Sunday afternoon but that didn't stop us Incredible experience! Definitely a must when visiting Sarasota. Captain Kraig was very friendly We spent an enjoyable day on the water with Capt.
Fred on the catamaran cruise to Egmont Key. The marina is easy to find, the dockside unloading area is an excellent detail. Our weather was wonderful, Capt Fred was able to "motor-sail" out and back. Publix subs are always great, soft drinks and water are icy cold. The boat itself is comfortable and so very roomy, making the three hours "underway" so very pleasant. Capt Fred was wonderfully accommodating with everything we needed. Egmont Key itself is an interesting destination.
Highly recommended day trip. Egmont Key is a fun and worthwhile destination. Just an hour and a half sail thru the protected waters of Anna Maria Sound and Tampa Bay, Egmont is an uninhabited island that is part State Park and part federal bird sanctuary. The southern half is off limits to humans for the local birds to live un encumbered by human activity.
The northern part is Florida park and has some old fort ruins and nature trails to explore. As well as Egmont lighthouse and both bay and Gulf beaches. It is a pretty cool all natural place to visit and a peaceful trip back and forth. We're glad you like the subs from Publix. They seem to have it figured out it is all about the bread and after experimenting with lots of vendors- Publix wins in our book. We hope to see you aboard! I love catamaran sailing. Brad who captained the sail was very accommodating and friendly. The snorkeling was not great but there isn't any good coral for snorkeling. My two teenagers and a couple from Canada were on the cruise.
The boat is 30 ft. Brad played some great 70's music on the sail back from the key. Very relaxing!!! Thank you for taking the time to review our services and for sailing with us! We have now been twice, first was the sunset sail and then an afternoon dolphins tour. Beautiful to be out on the water and lovely that only a limited number on board. Highly recommend!!! Captain Steve is da man! We love him as do our customers. See you on the water. We booked to go out on a Saturday morning at for a 2 hour dolphin watch. I received notice the night before that we two were the only ones booked, but if we were willing to pay for one more ticket I'm assuming so they didn't lose money, which makes perfect sense then we would have the boat all to ourselves.
And, if they did get a booking we wouldn't be charged. Our Captain was Steve and he was totally awesome, easygoing and all about the importance of protecting the area. We watched a number of dolphins playing, even a little youngster. He told us they liked it if we made noise, so we got really goofy and he joined right in.
The trip was just so wonderful, especially because there were no other passengers. It really was a perfect morning! Thanks again Steve!!
Thank you for taking the time to review our services. Your assumption is correct- we make enough barely to warrant a trip if we get three paying customers on most of our offerings. We never pursue the option of going with three but we offer it when time runs out for additional bookings to be added to a given trip.
We do this since many if not most of our customers are here for a short visit and time is running out on their holiday as well. We do not make money sitting at the dock and we prefer to get you out than not- so you can have a lasting memory of the best part of Florida- the water! My husband and I took this trip with our 14 year old daughter and had a fantastic time! Steve the captain was a super host - he really went out of his way to make sure we had a great time. We started with a narrated tour of the bay, then did some kayaking in the mangrove channels incredible , and then went out to a sandbar where we spent some time searching for shells. He brought lunch and set it out for us complete with plates and napkins.
After the sandbar, we spent some time following dolphins in the bay. The boat is extremely clean, big and comfortable, and there was plenty of parking at the marina. Try it out - you won't be sorry!
