Have owned two of these boats now and they are the best boats I have ever driven. Shame they quit making them. Just bought the boat Oct. I always wanted a Javelin. I love it! When you say "pad" what are you referring to and what do you think my top speed on this boat should be?
Was a little slow to plane, put hydrofoil on, got 3 adults on plane really quick. Gonna try more pitch on prop, hope to get 60 out of it.

I was thinkinb abouit trim extenders?? Other than that I love the boat. Previous owner crashed his '89 and saved the engine, he put it on a new ' Also installing a water psi gauge. Might have to go to 24 Raker to get the full speed potential of this boat. Speed was with 2 peop, half tank of gas and just aout a full tournament load. Most of all I love my rig! Installed a recessed TM tray, added a Fulton swing tongue to trailer so it fits into the garage.
Thinking of trying a larger prop and higher engine height to increase speed and help the chinewalk. Recommendations are appreciated. It will not straighten out until the motor is trimmed up at least halfway. Any ideas on how I can correct this problem? Tried moving batteries didn't work. I love this old boat!
Trigger1 - TN 97 Evinrude 70 mph. Still trying to get it to stay in the water! Stay tuned!! The new prop was a big help, you can get the same speed at less rpms, the old prop was bent bad due to hitting bottom in tournaments.
Fast Strike "Not happy with the holeshot, thinking about trying a 21" 4 blade. Seems to lug until almost on plane. The only thing is I feel like I should be getting more out of her with this motor Also looking for a manual. Talked to Genmar and the tech said that on the the sweet spot is 3. Thay also said that the is the same basic hull as the new Stratos , so they have a ton of technical info on the setup.

Just put the new electronics and trolling motor on it. I had hydraulic steering put on also. It's really a stable boat in rough water. Engine was replaced under warranty in , I recently had it serviced and compression tested. I was told it had perfect compression. Motor is 2. Motor is 4" off the transom.

I have had it on 17 different lakes in 6 different states. I believe the '98 BTE was the best Javelin ever made. I use this boat at least 11 months of the year and she runs strong all the time. I will own this boat till it falls apart.
The only thing I might change in the future is to swap the motor for an Evinrude E-tech Our first bass boat and a real pleasure for the whole family - plus it moves along quite smartly!

Clark - TN 95 Johnson 55 mph rpm speedo. It drives and rides pretty good even in choppy water. The front deck is a little small but that's the only drawback. Venom "Boat rides and drives good but it isn't a Skeeter.
I could get a couple more mph with a 26" Raker but 73 is fine, going fast doesn't catch more fish anyway. Engine has Wiseco pistons, Boyesen reeds, lightweight rods and crank, extensive head work.

Parks - GA 00 Johnson Motor is 3. I've had Procraft, Ranger and Champion, but this one handles and runs better than any of them. Holeshot is about 4 seconds and that is with two on board and a full load. This boat has seen more than its share of bad weather and rough water down in the coastal marsh hunting Reds and Specks and has met every challenge. I highly recommend it to anyone with an interest in buying this brand and model and its great value to cost ratio and its amazing bullet proof construction.

Only problem I have with it is it's hard to get rods in the lockers due to the shorter front deck and the dual console. They could have easily extended the front deck another foot without hurting the legroom at the consoles. I'm also wondering about the low rpms at WOT. I've been told to try a jackplate by several people, so I'll probably do that soon.

It's a dual console and is one of the fastest and most stable boats I've been in, especially with a !. I had a Renegade 19 with a Ficht and it wasn't nearly as fast or smooth. Tight lines!! We love this BOAT!! Will post gps speeds and rpms when we get the jackplate on. Will also post some pictures. Runs great, but without the hydraulic steering, would be a handful. I'm in a bass club, the Permian Bass Club, the best in the west. I just need a lot of seat time.

Probably run faster with a 3 blade prop, but the 4 is so smooth I hate to change. Managed 76 mph but was spinning rpm, so I'm having it double cupped to drop it a couple hundred r's. Definitely more bow lift with the 3 blade if that's what you want, but also chine walks more, so cool it.
Hydraulic steering makes it a lot easier to handle. More when I get the prop back. Great out of the hole but steering stiff on top end. Gotta love the boat though. Anybody know how many classics made in '97? Great deal on a 19 footer! Great warranty on an awesome motor. Chines a little at WOT but easily handled with a little steering correction. Hydro steering, Flow-Rite livewell. Room console space but wished I had a little more front deck space.
