Each year, I give the kids a Christmas book with a little note and the date inside. There is also an extra book that also gets the year inside, and that one is for the house.
Each child gets their own book and when they grow up and have their own families to celebrate Christmas with, they will take them with. The extra book for the house will stay with me, and hopefully, God willing, Wes and I will read them to our grandchildren. I wrap the books and give them to the kids with a new pair of Christmas pajamas.
They open their books, put on new jammies, we read them, and send them to dream of sugar plums and reindeer. This is one of those things you do as a mom that you think goes unnoticed or unappreciated, but when Ava and I were going through the books to add to my Amazon storeshe told me how much she loves her books and how much she loves reading them each season. I should also mention that they only come out in December. You know that the holidays are kicking into full gear when the book tubs come.

It is a science book that illustrates what is happening above and below the snow.
The illustrations are wonderful. When Santa Lost his Ho! In this delightful tale, Santa loses his belly laugh and the children of the world help him get it. An adorable story about what Santa was like before he was really Santa. As you are reading, you shine a light through the pages and you see a scene under the scene. I guess I really love books about winter, and Clay loves any science book.
We have more in the series. The Christmassaurus by Tom Fletcher � Ava has already re-read this book this season. She loves The Creakers. Christmas Around the World by Lesley Sims � This has come in handy as we are celebrating new holiday traditions in Europe. Also a good resource for the inevitable Christmas Around the Globe projects.
