They are really low end cheap boats but are affordable. Vexus is coming out this weekend with their alum line and glass boats in the fall. These will be the next generation of boats which we havnt had any major changes in decades.

I said "Good morning Officers" He replies "I don't care! Did I ask you? I need to see your registration and fishing license! He went off on a 5 minute tirade at this point. His partner was just sitting there grinning. When he reached for his ticket book, his partner stopped him and said something to him.

They got into a little heated discussion, held under their breath on their boat. Then his partner waved to me from the boat and said "Keep that on deck, will ya? I replied "Yes Sir", and he said "Have a good day" as his partner drove them away. I just chalk that up to him having a bad day. It's not really a ticket, just a notice that the CG found something wrong with my boat. The boat was brand new, never hit the water, and I had installed these really nice boat registration numbers.

He gave me the ticket because they didn't conform to the "block letter" style and to him weren't in a "contrasting color". I had to take off my nice new numbers and install those cheap white block letters for him to leave me alone that day. He was very polite about it though. I like seeing Game Wardens. If I'm hunting and I see them in the woods, I usually walk to them. I think they appreciate that, and they always quickly check me and send me on my way. If I'm in the boat, I always wave.

There have been several times that I heard the outboard starting to slow down, I'll wave, and I hear the outboard pick up speed as they wave back and keep on going. All the best, Glenn. However, Minnesota has ceased the enter and search on a whim of ice houses as they have recognized an expectation of privacy. I was stopped for a "routine" check a few years ago and after going over everything on the list, and not finding anything to write me up for, he wanted to see the throwable. I opened a front storage compartment and got it out to show him. At this point I was very frustrated over wasting 45 minutes of a very good topwater bite.

He wrote me a ticket and left. I fought the citation and the case was dropped. The only time I have ever met a waterways patrolman who was not friendly and professional. There are some idiots in every occupation I guess. I have never had a bad experience while being checked, just time consuming. I make every effort to be "legal" at all times, I don't need the hassle nor can I afford the fines, but, my throwable flotation device is always in a compartment, all they want to know is that I have one.

In South Carolina, boats over 16 feet could be used for rescue vessels and required the throwable device, less than 16 feet is not required to have one, unless they have changed the law in the last couple of years. Dan J. Well-Known Member. I agree that most, or at least the overwhelming majority of Game Wardens, are good officers, but an occasional a--hole makes it through every company's screening process I guess. As most know, it's always best to be kind and courteous, no matter what, and handle any differences on the court date.

Frighteningly, other than a Postal Inspector, I don't believe we have any non-military agencies with farther reaching powers and authority. You just have to learn the secret code while working with an unruly Game Warden agent during a tourney: "Yes officer, sir. Brian Ingersoll Well-Known Member. This may not be too important to you right now but a couple years down the road when you are sick of it and want to upgrade it will be critical. This pertains to ANY of them. Let someone else take that hit then buy a low hour pre-owned boat with lots of remaining warranty.

Hope that helps, Ken. Joined: May Houston, gladewater, toledo bend. The Nitro Z9 is much better. I've ridden and fished in most of the major brands with Elite series and FLW anglers. The Nitro Z9 is by far the best ride, Ranger being the worst. That is my humble opinion. Frisco, Texas. I would buy a used boat that is about 2 to 3 years old. Hunt and you will find. Sachse Texas. Boat shopping will get you a million opinions Have a mechanic check out any used motor before ya buy!!!!!!! I have a total of seven weeks fishing on Falcon using this boat. This boat has gotten me through some very bad, rough water down there in good shape. I spent some time talking to some fiberglass repair shop owners before buying the Nitro.

Each fiberglass repair guy I spoke with said that Nitros were good, solid fishing boats. The base model Z7 like mine is just a good, very plain fishing boat.

It is exactly what I need for all the time I spend on Fork going from one stump to another. I would hate to put a new Legend in the stumpy places I fish on Lake Fork. Reason: added word. Temple, TX. T Bird. I've had the pleasure of fishing out of every major mfg.

IMO it's the best new boat, motor, trailer package for the price. New Braunfels. I got a Z-7 no complaints so far. I would rather have a legend but did not want to spend the money.

Boerne, Texas. Runs 53 mph fish all day uses about 7 gals of gas. I have a Nitro which I believe is their Z6 now. I have enjoyed it for 8 years and because of Gods blessings have had it on many Texas lakes and I am pleased with it.

Not a tournament fisherman so may not be as big as you are looking at but if you live near the Tyler area you can pm me and come out and try it out. I'm not trying to sell it just offering a chance for you to form your own on water judgement. CrankinStick aka Chadd. Originally Posted By: Skeeterg Victoria, Tx. David Parker. You guys are great thanks for all the input I've owned a skeeter sx wich my ex-wife still has and a stratos witch was a turd not a very good rebound boat just lots of problems I will continue my research and to all who pm me I'm replying to thanks. After almost two years of this I used it for about six months and the motor lost a piston. Had to get a lawyer to get the dealer to fix it and it was still under warranty. After I got it back I said enough was enough and shopped around for a new boat. Ended up at Fun N Sun and they give me a great deal on a new Skeeter. I had this boat for 13 years now and have relly enjoyed fishing out of it. With the prices like they are I would find one a couple of years old and get it checked out by a boat mechanic and buy used.

There are a lot of great used boats on the market that are practically like a new one without the new cost. I understand that there are always lemons in everything you buy and that Nitro has improved on their product but they turned me off and I will not go back as long as I can help it.

PB Rockwall tx usa. Southlake, Texas. I have a buddy who Penn Yan Boats Good Fellowship has had one for years, it has been through more abuse than a bull dozer, he got a new boat but said he was keeping old blue because he caught more fish out of her than any boat ever. I have a Z7. It is 2 years old and still going strong. It gets pounded on Lake Texoma but still keeps on ticking. I just took off the rub rail, backed out all screws and screwed them back in with some caulk added and haven't had a problem since.

I wasn't happy but the boat has been great except for that one incident. I think nitro tend to get a bad rap Originally Posted By: MV.

I bought a cdx in Jan. I got full 5year warenty. I still have it, one of the dryest rides on the water. With that said Nitro is still 1 in rough water you stay dry. All I know is that I would fish from a Z8 any day of the week. I'll be there in ten". KVD fishes out of a nitro because they pay him a ton of money, yes he can fish out of anything he wants, but no one else is going to pay him as much as bass pro.

Haslet TX. Watch the bottom line after 'upgrading' with Nitro. Most of the Nitro's I see on the show room need upgraded motors, trolling motors and electronics, just to show a low price. Once you're done you have spent about the same as a Ranger. With that said, I'm sure it will last as long as any other name brand boat if taken care of so if you like the lay out and finish, write the check and go fishing!
