I was all set to get a Fiberglass boat Ranger, Grady White, etc. Don't know if I want one of those grinding on the sand all night long. I could find campsites with a dock I guess. If I had money, the Ranger is a heck of a nice boat. Will have to check out skeeter as well. For a glass boat you can put on Keel guards. Then also you can buy rods that drill into the bottom of the lake to tie your boat to. Also an anchor out the back works too.

I lived out on Madeline Island for four years and now only fish up there a couple of times a summer, I have two downriggers and can run two magnum dipsy's on lead to really cover the bottom when fishing the flats.

It is a long haul out there in a small rig but playing it safe and knowing when to get the heck out of dodge is key. I love having a smaller boat because I trailer all over the state and fish pool 4 a lot in the winter months.

Posted August 15, Seventeen foot lund here also. I use both Downriggers and dipseys. Two Harbors and McQuade have been good producers as of late for me. Thanks for the input.
