Whilst visiting Singapore on a recent trip , we walked from our hotel along the river just on sunset. We sat and ate dinner in one of the many hundreds of restaurants and bars , then decided to stroll a little further , where we discovered the Singapore river cruises, cruises varied from dinner and a cruise , straight river cruise or river cruise taking in the laser and light show.
The trip was narrated in English , not that it really needed narration, as the scenery spoke for itself. Singapore city lighting was stunning to say the least , however , when the boat stopped in the middle of the bay and the light and laser show began , words cannot describe the 15 minute show. These tours do not appear to be that well advertised , however , should be right up there on things to see and do in Singapore.
We would highly recommend this cruise above the dinner and cruise and also just the river cruise. There are several "WaterB" stations where you can purchase your ticket and load the boat. Walk another 5 minutes down the river to the next "WaterB" station and you'll find yourself surrounded by less tourists on a less crowded cruise.
And there is also an option to simply cruise around the bay at a lower cost 40 minutes. I went on the 8. The city is so lit up at night and even more beautiful. Great photo opportunities as the bridges were lit, the buildings were bright, and the landmarks were alive with gleaming lights. Plus, without the sun beating down on you, the breeze from the water at night was nice. I love to take a boat to see the view. I love it so much. I knew about SG history from cruise as well.
We took a boat ride in the afternoon, on 13th August We did not wait in the queue, as our agent had done the booking in advance. The boats are very clean,well maintained, and eco friendly. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience. The onboard recorded commentary was excellent and told the early story of Singapore and it's development well, pointing out the landmarks on the way. We then proceeded down river to Marina Bay to see the Merlion and the magnificent Marina Bay Sands before returning to our starting point.
The crew were great and were so helpful in taking photographs for us when there were only a few people left on the cruise! We took the evening cruise at around 6 pm from Clarke quay. It was cool and breezy at that time and we could take good pics at all the three quays. The 40 minute ride had commentary running which is very informative. Skip to main content.
