They took an annual trip to the Lake of the Ozarks with the family where they enjoyed boating, water skiing and time together, especially playing cards.
He also loved playing cards with his buddies at card club. Larry was very talented and spent time in his woodworking shop with his sons creating family heirlooms. Larry and Judith frequently attended Iowa Hawkeye sporting events and were season ticket holders.

Marlys also worked for many years at the Batavia Post Office. Her life was deeply rooted in her faith and she grew that faith as an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church where she served as church treasurer, dedicated Sunday School Teacher, and pianist.
God and her family were the most important things in her life. She enjoyed spending time outside working with her flowers and the company of family and friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed.

She spent over twenty years as a bus driver for the Cardinal Community School District. While she was working as a bus driver, she began taking a night course in tax preparation. She soon opened Garrett Tax Service which she operated for over 50 years until her recent retirement. Jo always stayed busy, whether it was working on woodcrafts with Tiny for the flea markets or sewing and crocheting. She would spend hours caring for her large garden as well as canning what she grew.
She cared for nature and loved her trees. She was an avid animal lover, especially her dogs and ponies. Her presence will be deeply missed by her family and her many friends. Jo was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Tiny Garrett and a son, Nick Garrett Jo also had many extended family and friends like Berna Cooper whom she loved like a daughter.

He enjoyed sports and played football and basketball before he graduated from Glidden-Ralston High School in Whilehe was dedicated tohisstudies and athletics, he was equally dedicated to living life to its fullest and having a good time. He began his career in Bloomfield, Iowa before moving to Fairfield, Iowa. At Fairfield High School, he taught history, consumer economics, and physical education. In addition, he coached football, baseball, wrestling, and track before retiring in During his coaching career, he was blessed to bring out the best of the players on the field and then in the classroom.
On the field, he was able to turn boys into men through life lessons and his guidance. He is still impacting and influencing his former students, and his lasting impact on the community is immeasurable. He was devoted to public service, which came out particularly through his commitment to the Fairfield Elks Lodge As a member of the Elks, he spent countless hours selflessly volunteering at the lodge picnic, wild game night, shrimp feed, after prom parties, national hoop shoot and raising monies for a number of projects for the Elks and the kids of the community.
He was the Exalted Ruler from and His heart came out through his service, and he spent his time doing what he was able toimpact hiscommunity. In he married Jan Hedges. His devotion and commitment to her was shared with their two children. It brought him great joy to be there while his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids grew and achieved their dreams and goals.
Upon retiring from teaching, coaching, and painting, he was able to pursue hunting and fishing with the same passionwith which heenjoyed life. He spent many hours chasing quail, pheasant, and deer through the Iowawoods and fields, grouse through the Minnesota woods, and chukar and sage grouse through the Idaho hills.
There were also many a day spent up north at the cabin in Minnesota fishing for walleyes and crappies. Afew of those hourshe may have had a toddy in his hand, but he still managed to freeze enough fish to catch the interest of the Minnesota Fish and Game.
