It appears to be more useful as a bank mount at this point and should be quite effective at blocking mailboxes or popular NPCs. And since this is only a Journeyman Mount, the speed increase will be less than that of an Epic mount. Comment by Myhv I'm sure this will work the way it was bugged on pre-TBC private servers: upon entering the water u won't dismount, but your speed will drop to the normal swining speed and will be restored when you will return to solid ground.
As for the water mount right now we can't say for sure how usefull it will be. If u can go underwater with it and than it will be smt like druids water form but I think we won't be able to breathe under water. While the water speed is useful, there is currently no underwater content in Northrend, and very little in the rest of the game. It would also be far faster to use an epic flying mount to traverse any length of water than to use the turtle. So, the only practical uses for this mount are traveling through water if you only have basic flight skill, swimming around in the old world, and showing off in Dalaran.
Woot for sitting in the fountain, collecting Blue Pearls with blazing speed, showing those Murlocs how much you pwn, and getting to those islands south of Tanaris in style! I found this out after hitting a dead stop wall in the middle of the sea. Comment by Grehan Actually, I've been on the test realm to find that an epic ground mount does not have a speed increase while swimming. If it has any sort of speed increase at all, know that it was so small that I didn't notice a difference from normal swim speed. Therefore, this mount is still perfectly useful in the water. It will move faster than any other mount or form in the water, spare a druid in aquatic form using the speed glyph.
Woo, fishing! And, of course, you can get underwater breath in a number of ways to match the druids'. I use a Deepdive Helmet. You could also get the Kalu'ak Fishing Pole.

If you go either by a glitch, or on a private server, where fatigue wont kill you too far into the ocean, there is an invisible wall that stops you from going farther.

Not being able to use a flying mount in Northrend, let alone the g mount, really sucks. It is intended as a fun game item, not everything needs to have a specific purpose. This mount has no speed increase on land but picks up pace when you hit the water, which is just the opposite of what you see with all other land mounts.
